Launch Prerequisite: Create an order form so people can buy the abandoned product. We need to setup the eCommerce pieces first (all links open in a new window). If you already have an Order Form or Shopping Cart link for the product, you can skip this whole section 1. Copy the Order Form link to a Notepad; we need this for the first launch step
Launch Step 1: Setup the campaign specific stuff We need to tell the campaign where the order form/shopping cart link for this product lives and update the name of the Tag/Goal which kicks off this whole party. 1. Click on the Campaign dropdown and select Links 2. Click Edit for the Product Order Form 3. Update the placeholder URL with the actual order form/shopping cart link; hit Save 4. Click here to go to your Tag setup (link opens in new window) 5. Find the Visited Product A Order Form tag in the Behavior category and click on the tag name to edit. 6. Replace Product A in the tag name with the actual name of the product; hit Save 7. Double click on the name of the Visited Product A Order Form goal above and replace Product A with the actual name of the product
Launch Step 2: Configure the purchase goal We need to tell the system which product will stop the Cart Abandon Recovery emails. 1. Double click on the Purchase Product goal 2. Configure it for a Specific Product Purchase; the product being sold on our Order Form 3. Hit Save 4. That was easy!
Launch Step 3: Give the recovery emails your own flair The last step is to customize the actual emails that try to recoup the sale 1. Double click on the Cart Abandon Recovery sequence to update the two emails; don't forget to mark the sequence itself as Ready! 2. All items on this campaign by now should look light green/greyed out. This means we can safely Publish. Hit the green Publish button in the upper right, and one more time to make it live. 3. High five! Your campaign is ready to go!
Launch Step 4: Add the 'Visited Product A Order Form' tag to links in your other campaigns This campaign assumes you are already driving people to purchase this product in your existing campaigns We want this recovery to start whenever a link is clicked in some other campaign to buy this product 1. Click here and go into another campaign (opens in new window) 2. Open up an email and apply the 'Behavior>Viewed Product A Order Form' tag to a link click (Step #5 of this tutorial) 3. Apply that tag to every "Buy Now" link for this product in all campaigns to ensure anyone who considers purchasing gets added to this recovery campaign :)
Pro-Tip: If you do NOT have any campaigns directly selling this product, send an email broadcast (link opens in new window) to a segment of your database that is directly promoting a purchase of this product. In that broadcast, make sure to link right to the Order Form/Shopping Cart for this product. Behind all those "Buy Now" links in that broadcast, you can apply the 'Behavior>Viewed Product A Order Form' tag just like we did in the steps above. Now when someone receives the broadcast and clicks to buy (but don't), this campaign kicks in!
